AMV Contest Rules

  • All participants must have a valid LEVEL UP Ticket. No tickets will be provided to the participants.
  • Participants under 14 years of age need a declaration of consent from their parents.
  • There is a minimum number of participants for a contest to be held.
  • The jury's decision cannot be contested and is binding. It cannot be corrected retrospectively. Legal recourse is excluded.
  • Regulated, fair and reasonable actions are the prerequisite for a successful competition, therefore we expect this from all participants.
  • The instructions of the team on site must be followed.
  • The evaluation of the AMV/GMV is carried out in advance by the jury members.
  • The participants agree that any photo, audio and video material recorded during the performance may be used and distributed by the organizer without restriction and without compensation.
  • Any violation of these rules will lead to exclusion or disqualification.
  • We reserve the right to conduct a pre-selection process in the event of too many applications.
  • Rule violations that only come to light after the event may result in the revocation of prizes already awarded. In this case, a claim for compensation may be made against the affected participants.
  • We reserve the right to change rules on site if necessary. However, the changes must be communicated to all participants immediately to give them the opportunity to adjust to the new situation.
  • Prizes will only be awarded at the awards ceremony and afterwards at the information booth. Unclaimed prizes will not be sent to the winners after the convention.

General Rules

  • Open competition:
This means that a video can already be published, but this is not mandatory. Participants can also create and submit a completely new video. Please note the listed rules, however.

  • Video footage:
The video material may consist of anime, games, and any other type of animation (cartoons, Disney, stop-motion, etc.). It is permitted to use alternative material (this includes, for example, live-action or content that does not comply with the above rule). However, this may only comprise a maximum of one-third of the total video length. If you are unsure whether certain video material is permitted, please feel free to contact us at any time.

  • Prohibited material:
Since the competition has an age rating of FSK 16, the finished video must not contain any content with a higher age rating. You can check the age rating for your video material on the FSK website (https://www.fsk.de/freigaben).Video material with a higher age rating can be used in your AMV/GMV, provided the concerned scenes have been scensored sufficiently to ensure a 16+ age rating.

  • Technical requirements:
The video must have a minimum resolution of 720p and should be submitted in a 16:9, 21:9, or 4:3 aspect ratio. A resolution of 1920 x 1080, which corresponds to a 16:9 aspect ratio, is recommended by default.
Furthermore, the video file should be playable with a standard video player (e.g., VLC Player). The following file formats are suitable for this: MP4 and the H264 codec.
Please also be careful not to transmit too much data. A guideline would be 100 MB per minute.
Audio AAC with at least 44.1 kHz and 192 bitrate and stereo.

  • Reuse of AMVs/GMVs:
The video must consist exclusively of original compilations and may not contain any content from AMVs/GMVs from other editors are included.

  • Subtitles / Watermarks / External logos:
Foreign logos, watermarks, and subtitles from the original material should be removed to the best of your knowledge, as this could negatively affect the evaluation.
However, if the concept of your video requires any of the things mentioned, then this rule is obviously not relevant for you.

  • Intro / Outro:
During the contest, we will, to the best of our knowledge, display all important information about the video and editor (usually as a slider). Therefore, it is neither necessary nor desired to embed any credits in the video.

Submission rules

  • Correctness of the submission:
All information regarding the video material and music used must be provided correctly to the best of your knowledge when submitting the video.

  • Download Link:
We ask that you submit the video via a file hosting service (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).
Please note, however, that you often need to approve the link to share the video first so that it can be used by other people.

  • Number of submissions:
Only one AMV/GMV entry per participant and cooperation project is permitted. However, passive assistance or feedback does not count as active participation in a collaborative project, which means the editor in question is of course also allowed to submit their own video.

  • Late submission:
    Please adhere to the deadline.

  • Rule violation:
The competition management reserves the right to disqualify an entry in the event of a rule violation.

FAQ

How many AMV/GMVs are shown on stage?

It is our aim to screen all submitted videos on stage. However, depending on the event schedule and the number of submissions, this may not always be possible.
Should the number of submissions exceed a certain threshold, priority will be given to AMVs/GMVs with higher scores, greater entertainment value or artistic merit.

Will I receive a confirmation once you have received my AMV/GMV?

You will receive a confirmation email immediately after registration. If you haven't received a confirmation message after a longer period of time, please contact us.
However, sometimes the confirmation emails end up in the spam folder, so it's always a good idea to check it.

Will the AMV/GMVs be available after the convention?

It is entirely up to the creators choose to make their video publicly available. While we will endeavor to publish a list of submissions, the decision to publish an AMV/GMV ultimately rests with its editor.

How do I know if my AMV/GMV is not too extreme or complies with the rules?

Please adhere to the rules to the best of your knowledge and belief, and under normal circumstances, there should be no rule violation. However, if you have any doubts, you can contact us at any time, and should a rule violation occur, you will be contacted and informed of the specific violation.

If you are unable to correct a rule violation in your video in a timely manner, We'll gladly give you some extra time to adjust the problematic parts and send us the corrected video.

Is the use of AI tools permitted?

The use of AI-assisted tools during the editing process of AMV/GMVs is permitted. However, the creation of entire videos, audio tracks, or images generated by AI is strictly PROHIBITED. Examples: Using features such as Content Aware Fill is permitted. In contrast generating images/autos/clips entirely through tools such as Midjourney, DALL-E, GPT, etc., is not permitted.
